Paint beautiful scenes around Savannah as well-known artist John Guernsey shares strategies for painting en plein air; from selecting a subject to creating paintings with a professional and dynamic look. You will gain unique insights and skills in color mixing, light and shadow theory, and brushwork. Increase your confidence in the painting process and learn ways to handle complex subject matter with great ease and simple gestures. Part lecture, part demonstration, and with an emphasis on painting together with assistance, expect a focused, yet relaxed, atmosphere with lots of fun and camaraderie. Originally from California, Guernsey moved to Georgia in 1993 and began a full-time art career in 2006. He teaches workshops throughout the Southeast and regularly participates in nationally ranked plein air festivals around the country.
